We are thrilled to return to Kaimuki Middle School for another semester of coding! This Spring 2025, we are offering two new exciting courses. See below for course details!

    • Who: All Kaimuki Middle School students (both new and returning)

    • Where: Kaimuki Middle School (Voyager 201 - room assignments will be shared at a later date)

    • Dates: January 15th, 2025 - May 14th, 2024 (no class 3/19 & 3/26)

    • When: Wednesdays 2:30pm - 3:30pm

    • Program Fee: $400 (16 sessions)

    • Course Description: This course is for both beginners and returning students eager to build their coding skills and explore game development. Students will learn concepts like variables, functions, and event-driven programming while creating a portfolio of their own unique games. Through project-based learning, participants will design engaging gameplay experiences and learn essential game mechanics. This class will utilize Scratch, Python, and other game building platforms like RPGMaker and MakeArcade.

    • Please have students bring their KMS-supplied Chromebook

    • All levels welcome (no prior game development or coding experience required)

    • Who: Students who have previously enrolled in at least one semester of VR, Python, or Web Development

    • Where: Kaimuki Middle School (Voyager 201 - room assignments will be shared at a later date)

    • Course Description: The Advanced Coding Lab is designed for experienced students ready to deepen their programming skills and explore advanced game development techniques. Building on knowledge from previous courses, students will tackle new challenges, including advanced coding concepts, dynamic game mechanics, and project-based learning that fosters creativity and problem-solving.

      Through innovative projects, students will design and program interactive games and simulations while expanding their expertise in Python, Scratch, VR, Web Dev, and other tools. Each semester introduces fresh content and evolving projects, making this course ideal for repeat enrollment.
